Optimisation is the analysis of a supply and demand scenario through use of advanced
computer modelling to identify the best possible solution based on a specific
set of business rules.
To do this, a mathematical supply and demand 'model' must be developed, using
advanced algorithms, taking into account all of the possible constraints,
variables and desired outcomes. Then, through the use of high powered computer
capability, the optimisation engine can rapidly generate tens of thousands of
possible solutions, evaluating the improvement of each in relation to specified
objectives and then identifying the optimum solution.
Optimisation is already well established as a part of our everyday lives, across
a range of industries where the delivery of goods or services to geographically
dispersed sites or customers is required. This includes planning the delivery
of produce to supermarkets, collection of waste and recycling from residential
and business properties and roadside vehicle recovery.
